Our
building was constructed in 1875 as a school to serve
the local village community. It was renovated to become
a residential home for the elderly in 1980. Further
improvements and extensions were made in the 1990s
and now further extensions are planned for 2005/2006.
At the moment we are providing residence for up to
thirty people in a variety of accommodation –
single, shared and ensuite. We have three extensive
lounges, including one on the first floor with beautiful
views over the Medway Estuary.

Our residents are from all walks of life, and have
included people of great repute locally and nationally.
They include mayors, (local as well as from other
parts of the country) councillors, historians, educationalists,
retired nurses, and even famous prisoners of the Second
World War, who served time in Japanese prisoner of
war camps. Some of these famous residents have allowed
their pictures to remain in our Home’s picture
gallery.
